About
New for 2024, the Vale of Rheidol Railway are pleased to offer their new Events & Display space for corporate hire bookings.
The venue is located in a historic building close to the centre of Aberystwyth, fully signposted and with a large carpark adjacent. The building was built 1938 as an engine shed by the Great Western Railway, and has now been extensively renovated as a museum and events space.
The flexible nature of the building allows tables and chairs to be set up in a variety of different configurations. Choose from ‘concert-style’, U-shaped, ‘in the round’, cabaret, board-room style or more: you decide the seating plan!
Chairs and tables can be positioned around the large locomotives, providing an unusual centrepiece and talking point for your guests. Alternatively, the exhibits can be shunted out to create a large open-plan space.
We are able to provide tables, chairs and PA equipment: we are also able to help with sourcing other equipment from local suppliers if required.
The railway is signposted from all main roads in the locality. It also has a large carpark adjacent to the venue (separate charge applies), with level and flat access straight into the venue.
A new café is being constructed alongside the venue (coming soon in 2024), allowing guests to enjoy food and drink. The venue is also located centrally in Aberystwyth, with many different options available for food for delegates. The seafront is around ten minutes walk away, with it’s famous views and beautiful sunsets.
Aberystwyth provides a variety of local accommodation in the area to suit all budgets, mostly within walking distance of the venue.
As well as the event space, delegates can also enjoy a scenic steam train ride to Devil’s Bridge: either in a reserved carriage, or (by arrangement) hiring a special train for guests. This provides the perfect ice-breaker and talking point for large groups! The layout of our carriages promotes a relaxed and informal atmosphere as guests enjoy the scenery during the one hour trip. Trains can carry up to 150 people.
Looking for someone particularly special for your managers or directors? We are now pleased to offer first class on all of our trains too, with sumptuous and comfortable seating for groups of up to 12.
Train rides can be combined with refreshments at Devil’s Bridge (either via Two Hoots café, or at the Hafod Arms Hotel), as well as opportunities to explore the famous waterfalls.
If you are looking for a real talking point, we are pleased to offer ‘drive a steam engine’ experiences for guests: this is typically done immediately outside the conference venue in Aberystwyth. Each drive lasts a few minutes (meaning that it is possible for lots of guests to have a go), providing a unique and memorable experience. Where else can you do that?
