About

There's a buzz about Wrexham (the North Wales city that's 9 miles from Chirk, 12 miles from Llangollen, and 5 miles from Ruabon). Wrexham AFC is owned by famous actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny who have become great ambassadors Wrexham. Go, Red Dragons! - the third oldest football team in the world with the oldest ground.

Wrexham was also a finalist for UK City of Culture in 2025. It's a hub of creativity with Tŷ Pawb (Everybody’s House), a vibrant community space, the cultural heart of the city. And just opposite Ty Pawb is XPLORE! Science Discovery Centre. Brilliant for kids to learn in a fun and interactive way.

Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales and the town's Independent Quarter is full of shops and galleries – an ideal spot to spend some time.

The town is well-known for its many markets, including the Butcher's Market and the General Market which are located in listed historic buildings. There is also a farmers market selling a range of home grown produce.

There are seven Country Parks in and around the Wrexham area, each running a programme of events throughout the year.

Of the 7 Wonders of Wales, three are in Wrexham. The 16th century tower of St Giles' Church can be seen for miles and is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in North Wales. The Gresford Bells can be found in the 15th century All Saints Church one of the finest church buildings in Wales. Its peal of bells can be heard on Tuesday evenings and Sundays. In Overton village, Wrexham, the 21 yew trees in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin Church date from early Medieval times.

Just a short distance from the town of Wrexham lies the Ceiriog Valley. The Valley offers a wealth of outdoor activities; pony trekking, a selection of public footpaths, including the Offa's Dyke path, fishing, cycling or mountain biking in the Berwyn Mountains.

In the nearby village of Bangor-on-Dee, the Racecourse offers exciting jump racing action in all seasons.
