About
Dyffryn (Llanendwyn) is a long sandy beach backed by an extensive sand dune system between Shell Island and Dyffryn Ardudwy. A footpath from a caravan site leads north behind the dune system to Shell Island and the beach beyond. The shoreline is good for birds, especially during the winter months.
Morfa Dyffryn is a spectacular National Nature Reserve with a natural sand dune system. The sand dune system stretches along the coast of Cardigan Bay from Afon Ysgethin in the south to Afon Artro in the north - about 7km in length.
Unlike many other sand dunes in Wales, Morfa Dyffryn’s dunes are dynamic and constantly changing. The front dunes are steep. The wind blows sand through the many gaps in these dunes, changing their shape and burying much of the old habitat. That's why they are so bare and open, without little growth apart from small amounts of sea-grass and some young plants and habitats that are very rare in Wales.
Toilets and car park. Dog restrictions apply May to end September.
