About
A twentieth century garden which was owned and designed by the Italy-loving Arts and Crafts architect, Clough Williams-Ellis, between 1902 and 1978. The garden has many compartments, formed with yew hedging and topiary, and has ornamented terraces with urns and statuary.
Sir Clough created a unique and characteristic garden landscape which provides a series of dramatic and romantic prospects set within the Snowdonia National Park, between Snowdon and the sea. Inspired by the gardens of Renaissance Italy, strong architectural influences are evident within the Plas gardens, stone walls, topiary and avenues of trees leading the eye to the dramatic back drop of the mountains beyond.
Plas Brondanw is host to a charming cafe located within the idyllic gardens with far reaching views of the dramatic landscape which surrounds the estate.
There is also a super cafe at Plas Brondanw being the ideal venue to taste local Welsh produce at its very best whilst enjoying the tranquillity of the gardens. The cafe is managed by Mrs Lowri Jones who has a wealth of knowledge and experience both in the kitchen and of the local area. Lowri was brought up and continues to live on the Brondanw Estate.
The cafe is open seven days a week, 10a.m – 4p.m, during the summer months.
The menu focuses on homemade and locally sourced produce wherever possible. Daily salads and rarebits are also a popular feature on the special’s menu.
