Surf Lessons
If you’ve never surfed before or can catch waves but can’t stand, or know the basics but need a refresher, then a beginner lesson is for you. The two hour Beginner lessons include tuition, wetsuit and surfboard.
Porthcawl Surf School also offer advanced coaching for more experienced surfers who are looking to refine their technique and take their surfing to their next level.
Stand up Paddle Board (SUP) Lessons
Stand up Paddle Boarding is an alternative to surfing and is great fun as well. Stand up Paddle Board lessons are held at the sheltered harbour of Porthcawl and a1.5 hour lesson is the perfect for introduction to SUP. Minimum Age: 10 years old
Hugh Murray - Owner & Head Coach
Hugh has been involved in surf sport, education and surf lifesaving for over 37 years. Club Chairman of Sker and Pink Bay Surf lifesaving club for many years, he has competed at all levels including the World Championships and has held Welsh and British Titles.
As owner of Porthcawl Surf School Hugh coaches on daily basis. He is a leader in the development of young persons programmes including surf and lifesaving. He is an active trainer and examiner for SLS GB and Surf Life Saving Wales. In addition Hugh has developed a disability surf programme with trainer Dan Wilmore and again, leads the way in this field of empowering disabled persons to achieve through surfing.

Road Directions
Leave M4 at Junction 37 and follow the A4229 towards Porthcawl. At the roundabout after ~3 miles, take 3rd exit (Right) onto Newton Nottage Road, which soon becomes Fulmar Rd, following signs for Rest Bay & Nottage.
Follow this for 3/4 mile. Fulmar Rd does a sharp Left & becomes Mallard Way West. After 200m, turn sharp Right. After about 500m, pass the Lifeguard Station and turn right up into the car park.
