Pwllheli's main beach is a long sand and shingle stretching curve, located south west of the harbour. It is popular for sailing, surfing, windsurfing and canoeing as well as with families enjoying traditional seaside activities. The beach is backed by a promenade and there is a play area and a skate park alongside. There is good access onto the beach for people with limited mobility.

This part of the coastline is listed as the Lleyn Peninsula and the Sarnau Special Area of Conservation, confirming its high conservation status. The spectacular Llyn Coastal Path runs through Pwllheli and extends for 91 miles around the coast of the peninsular. Cyclists are also well served by two national cycle routes which pass nearby and a range of local routes. A vast expanse of sand with landscaped dune areas and exceptional views to Cardigan Bay.

Parking no charge. Refreshments, shop and toilets at one end of the promenade; good range of shops, cafes and other facilities are all within easy access in the town centre. Dog restrictions apply April - end September.
