The Cambrian Way is a challenging long distance walk through some of the most remote countryside in Wales. Walking the whole route form Cardiff to Conwy, walkers will be amazed with the beauty and remoteness of the central section through Mid Wales, from the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park through the heart of the Cambrian Mountains to Southern Snowdonia.

The starting point for the Central Section of the route starts north of Llandovery and follows the Towy valley at Rhandirmwyn where it is difficult to imagine this was once a busy metal mining area. Even more attractive is the remote path up the Doethie valley leading to Ty'n y Cornel Youth Hostel, one of the most isolated hostel in Wales.

The route follows the western side of the wild moorland and forest area inthe Cambrian Mountains known as the Elenydd. After superb rambling country around Devil's Bridge and Ponterwyd, the route crosses the land mass of Pumlumon in the heart of the Mid Wales Cambrian Mountains, with opportunities to view the sources of the rivers Severn and Wye.

The hamlet of Dylife once the workplace of 2000 miners, now only has a few houses and where you might meet walkers on Glyndwr's Way National Trail as well as Cambrian Way walkers. A mixture of forest and sheep grazing land brings you through the windfarm on Mynydd Cemmaes and so to Dinas Mawddwy, Cadair Idris and Barmouth
