Gwanas Fawr Holiday Cottages

About

Gwanas Fawr is perfect for family gatherings and celebrations and between the two properties can accommodate up to 9 plus baby or toddler. Families and well behaved dogs are all welcome.

Ty Trol and Ty Neuadd are brimming with traditional character and original features. Both have well equipped kitchens and cosy wood burning stoves to relax in front of. If you’d rather let someone else do the cooking there are many great pubs and restaurants in the local area. The closest is the Cross Foxes Inn 5 minutes away.

Gwanas Fawr has been welcoming guests to Wales since the 13th century when the Knights Hospitallers established an early medieval grange here. Steeped in history, recent excavations revealed the site of a roman army marching camp on the hill directly behind us.

The perfect location for a holiday in Southern Snowdonia, situated down a farm track and over a small bridge, the 2 self-catering cottages are surrounded by beautiful farmland with views of Cadair Idris and the Snowdonia National Park. Walks up the hill can start from your front door without needing to get in the car.

With plenty of outside space Gwanas Fawr provides the perfect oasis for guests to relax, unwind and enjoy everything nature and the local wildlife has to offer.

The night skies in southern Snowdonia are spectacular too as the area is located within a designated international dark sky reserve. Although wonderfully secluded Gwanas Fawr is within easy reach of everything Snowdonia and the Mawddach Estuary has to offer, the market town of Dolgellau is only 4 miles away.
