About
Modern art lovers now have a unique opportunity to stay in a cottage on the 250 acre Rodd estate formerly owned by Sir Sidney Nolan. The estate sits in the beautiful Hindwell Valley on the English Welsh border close to the picturesque Welsh market town of Presteigne and the internationally renowned town of books, Hay on Wye.
The lovely one-bedroom cottage, formerly the gardener’s cottage, sits amongst a collection of medieval buildings which centre around Rodd Court, the Jacobean manor house Sidney lived in with his wife Mary. There is space to paint or write and guests are free to wander the grounds and gardens and take in the tranquil location which first drew Sidney to live there.
Further afield from Orchard Cottage, guests can tour the area and take in the Black Mountains, the Elan Valley and the Brecon Beacons. Exceptional eating is to be had locally at The Stagg Inn a relaxed country pub that has won countless accolades for its food, and The Harp Inn which won The Good Pub Guide’s Rural Pub of the Year 2020 plus many other restaurants and cafes in the area.
This lovely, one-bedroomed space can accommodate up to two people (and one well-behaved dog) comfortably. Ample parking. Available all-year-round for 3-, 4-, or 7-night stays.
Stay for as little as £395 for 3 nights or £615 for a week.
Minimum stay: 3 nights
