About
Berriew (Welsh: Aberriw) is a picturesque village in Powys, Mid Wales. It is in the Upper Severn Valley close to the market towns of Newtown, Montgomery and Welshpool
The Andrew Logan Sculpture Museum, Glansevern Hall and Gardens, as well as the pubs and beautiful countryside are just some of the reasons that so many have fallen in love with Berriew. The village is one of the jewels in the Mid-Wales crown, with its black-and-white cottages, majestic church and the river Rhiw flowing through its heart.
Berriew is reputedly the birthplace of St Bueno, to whom the local church is dedicated. The community that had grown around the Church during the Middle Ages expanded significantly with the construction of Glansevern Hall in 1807, with several families drawing their income from livelihoods on the estate.
