About

The award-winning Aberystwyth Arts Centre is Wales’ largest arts centre and recognised as a 'national flagship for the arts'. It has a wide-ranging artistic programme, both producing and presenting, across all art forms including drama, dance, music, visual arts, applied arts, film, new media, and community arts and is recognised as a national centre for arts development.

The main concert hall at the Arts Centre, the Great Hall, seats over 900 people and is used for events as varied as live music, top stand-up comedy acts, University examinations and Graduation Ceremonies.

Theatr y Werin is the main theatre space of the Arts Centre, and in 2018 underwent a significant refurbishment and technical upgrade. The stage of Theatr y Werin is host to world-class productions spanning theatre, dance and performance, as well as local productions. A highlight in the programme is the annual summer musical, a professional production developed in-house at the Arts Centre.

The Arts Centre cinema features top of the range technology and a varied programme from the latest blockbusters, art house re-issues and live satellite broadcast events. It also plays host to several film festivals throughout the year, including the Wales One World Film Festival and Abertoir, Wales’ International Horror Festival.

The Arts Centre can also boast several dance studios, rehearsal spaces and art rooms. The creative learning department of the Arts Centres runs a busy programme of classes for all ages, from dance for toddlers through to art groups for older people. The gallery spaces of the Arts Centre features an eclectic, year-round programme of exhibitions, from world-beating travelling exhibitions to local showcases and specially curated celebrations of Welsh art.

The Arts Centre is a department of Aberystwyth University, and sits at the heart of the university's campus, with stunning views over the town of Aberystwyth and along the coastline of Cardigan Bay.
