About
The Welsh Legends Maze is right next to King Arthur's Labyrinth, you can explore this leafy outdoor maze where you'll discover the ancient stories of bards and fairy folk. Navigate the winding paths to find intriguing characters waiting to tell you their stories. At the centre of this bewitching attraction, find our dramatic stone circle – the portal through which our cast of characters emerged...
Meet the Fairy Lady of Llyn y Fan Fach, alone in her moonlit lakeside haunt, and the Physicians of Myddfai. Hear the chilling tale of Changelings, human babies switched with fairy folk. Enjoy Mair's romantic tale and how she escaped the cruelty of her Father - Giant Idwal. Discover the closely guarded secret held by March the Lord of Llyn, known only to his barber. Hear how John Gethin was tricked by the Devil. Learn of how Blodeuwedd, the flower lady, deceived her husband and the fate that came to Elidorws when he stole from his friends in the Fairy Kingdom.
Each of these extraordinary characters reveal themselves and share their stories as you navigate the meandering pathways, as enchanting as the folklore itself.
Whilst enjoying the tales, you can have fun with our range of quests and win yourself a prize if you correctly solve the quest. The quests range from easy to hard and there's something for everyone:
-Dragon Quest (Easy) activity for younger visitors -There are golden baby dragons, with name tags, hiding in the maze, each with a number to help you to solve the riddle.
-Bard's Quest (Medium) activity - Listen to the Welsh myths and legends and answer questions to solve the quest.
-The Mabinogion (Hard) activity - this quest is more tricky and a little criptic, something for our older visitors to get their teeth into.
Once you’ve re-entered the real world, you can share these mythical tales with family and friends and help to keep the legends alive.
The maze was designed by Steph Pasiewicz, who previously worked on the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony and Tim Burton's 'Frankweenie'. Created to work with nature, the Maze is also a haven for local wildlife, from newts and dragonflies to gold-crested wrens.
With gravel pathways, the maze may enable access for wheelchairs, prams and buggies. Dogs on leads are welcome.
