About
Dyfi Distillery produces artisan gins crafted with wild Welsh botanicals foraged in the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park..
Based at Corris Craft Centre, near Machynlleth, this locally produced gin has been recognised in the Great British Food Awards 2017 & 2018 for the best gin produced in the UK. The prestigious award is for its Pollination Gin, which the judges described as “seriously beautiful” and has featured widely on BBC and ITV. Drinks guru Joe Wadsack said in 2020, “No one makes better tasting gin in my opinion in the whole of Great Britain.”
Dyfi Distillery is one of nine workshops at the Corris Craft Centre, run by brothers Pete and Danny Cameron. They established the first commercial gin distillery in Mid Wales in 2016. Pete has lived, worked and foraged in the Dyfi Valley for over 40 years, while Danny is a long-standing drinks industry professional and international-standard judge.
Pollination Gin is one of the few gins in the world produced from mostly foraged botanical ingredients. In this distillery’s case, the ingredients are gathered within the Dyfi Valley UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
The gin here is made in genuinely small batches, using what one journalist described as “the last word in distilling equipment.” In any case, the attention to detail is for all to see through the large glass windows from the visitor area to the distillery itself. There is artwork on display to explain about foraging and distilling, and there’s always a member of the family to meet you, chat and taste the award-winning range.
