Lôn Las Cymru Route 8 runs in sections down the whole length of Wales. This NCN Route is an exciting long-distance route runs in sections down the whole length of Wales. It will challenge and amaze you as it passes through wild and beautiful Welsh landscapes. The route starts on the island of Anglesey, passes through two national parks, Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons, before finishing in Cardiff
Following the route north to south, this section of the NCN Route 8 runs south from Llanidloes, Rhayader, Llanelwedd / Builth Wells following quiet country lanes alongside the River Wye. The route passes over the Brecon Beacons and from Brecon town the route is largely traffic free before heading into Merthyr Tydfil.
Apart from a small section at Pontypridd and Abercynon the route south of Merthyr Tydfil is almost all traffic free along cycle routes through the South Wales valleys and onwards to Cardiff.

This section of cycle route begins in Llanidloes and heads south before entering the Brecon Beacons at the town of Talgarth. The route passes through Brecon and heads across the Beacons to Merthyr Tydfil. Beyond Merthyr Tydfil the routes heads through The Valleys via Pontypridd before arriving into Cardiff.
