About
Nannerth Fawr Farm is in the upper Wye Valley, 3.5 miles north west of the market town of Rhayader or Rhaeadr Gwy. In the heart of Welsh ‘kite country’ Nannerth Country Holidays border the Elan Valley and are surrounded by the hills and moors of the Cambrian Mountains.
This small private nature reserve is on the 200 acre organic farm adjoining the Elan Valley and next to the River Wye. There is a beautiful farm trail taking in many different habitats including riverside, wetlands, meadows, woods and open moorland. You can see a wide variety of birdlife including red kite, peregrine, dipper, green woodpecker, cuckoo, redstart and pied flycatcher.
The wetlands are home to many dragonfly and damselfly species as well as toads, frogs, newts and watervole. Badgers may be seen from our treehouse hide. This is paradise for photographers of birds as there are so many distinct habitats on the farm and conservation areas to encourage breeding.
Badger & Birdwatching at Nannerth
You are invited for a magical experience in Nannerth's treehouse hide, high in a great oak tree on the old river bank. Beneath is an extensive badger sett which has been colonised over many years.
