The route North of Rhayader is on a quiet country lane along side the A470. A large section of a traffic free cycle route can be found between Newtown and Welshpool as it travels via the Montgomery canal.
The route onwards between Welshpool and Shrewsbury is via country lanes as it passes into England and continues on Eastwards.
