Tommy Mills

About

Newtown celebrates the start of the Christmas season with a hub of activities and here at Hafan, we get the party started with local music legend Tommy Mills!

Tommy Mills, a Glasgow native, was one of seven children who grew up immersed in a lively household where music was a constant companion. From a young age, he was enamored with the joyous act of singing, dancing, and indulging in the rhythm of life. His musical tastes were shaped by the lyrical genius of singer-songwriters such as Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Joni Mitchell, alongside the harmonious complexities of the Beatles and the Beach Boys.

In the mid-seventies, Tommy's journey took an unexpected turn when he moved to Hereford. It was here that he stumbled into becoming a bass player in a band, purely by chance. This twist of fate led him to collaborate with remarkable talents, including James Honeyman Scott of Pretenders, broadening his musical horizons alongside an array of other distinguished musicians.

Currently, Tommy embraces his passion for creation, dedicating his time to composing his own tunes while continuing to breathe life into classic tracks on stage. Joining him in this musical evolution is his recent collaborator, Pedro Brown, who brings a vibrant touch with his percussion and saxophone skills. Together, they create a dynamic and eclectic sound that captivates audiences, blending Tommy's original works with the timeless classics they both love to perform. Their collaboration promises an exciting musical experience, showcasing a rich tapestry of influences and creativity.

To add to the fun of the occasion, the bar will be open with the addition of Hafan's famous mulled wine!
