Penrhyn Dyfi

About

Penrhyn is a Grade II listed Georgian country house overlooking the Dyfi Estuary on the outskirts of Machynlleth, This elegant home sleeps up to 12 guests - perfect for a group of friends or large family getaway.

Recently renovated and beautifully presented, Penrhyn Dyfi retains plenty of its original character and features including sash windows, tiled floors, window seats and carefully chosen furnishings throughout the house.

Located at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park, it’s an excellent base to explore the wonders of mid and north Wales and beyond.

The accommodation is split over three floors, with five bedrooms, and generous, bright living spaces including a games room and two large sitting rooms. There is plenty of space to spread out.

The two large sitting rooms are furnished with plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs, wood burners with a generous supply of logs. There are ample quiet corners for anyone who likes their space.

If rainy days (or the genuinely superb setting and accommodation) keep you indoors you’ll find plenty to keep you busy: a large games room on the first floor comes with pool table, TV, DVD and board games.

Outside, you’ll find a large patio with outdoor seating and BBQ area – ideal for al fresco dining. There is a large hot tub which looks out across a well-groomed lawn to the most fantastic landscapes beyond. The panoramic views from this beautiful Georgian style cottage on the banks of the River Dyfi are superb from every angle.

The long-distance footpath, the Wales Coast Path, passes next to the house and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, climbing, fishing and water sports nearby, and the world-class Coed y Brenin mountain bike centre and trails are just a short drive away.

If the weather and season is right, you might like to take on nearby ‘Cadair Idris’ (‘Chair of Idris’) – named after the legendary giant warrior poet who is said to sit on its summit. Take a hike to the top to be rewarded with the most amazing panoramic views.
