About

The Wynnstay is a traditional coaching inn, hotel and eatery in the heart of historic Machynlleth in mid Wales. Expect comfortable accommodation, fine dining and an exceptional wine list – in a relaxed, friendly setting.

Head Chef Gareth Johns follows the Slow Food Principles of “Good, Clean and Fair” and will never knowingly allow G.M. ‘freaky food’ to be used in the Wynnstay kitchens. The menu represents a personal distillation of nearly 30 years experience of cooking (and a lot more eating!) based very firmly on fantastic Welsh produce where possible, and ideally from within 50 miles of the kitchen door.

Taste of Wales
The Wynnstay offer some of the best local tastes including the toast of Wales at the recent World Gin Awards Dyfi Gin, Geipel Lagers (brewed to the German standard in a micro-brewery hidden in the mountains and Penderyn.

All our real ales, lagers and real ciders are Welsh, with an occasional guest ale from across the English border. The Wynnstay stocks real ales from local breweries; Cader Ales in Dolgellau and Monty’s from Montgomery. All wines are imported directly from vineyards in Italy; a range of housewines by the glass or litre and finer bottled wines, all offering exceptional value.
