About
Set in its own beautiful parkland in the centreof Machynlleth, overlooked by rolling Hills, Y Plas Machynlleth mansion formerly belonged to the family of the Marquess of Londonderry. The house which stood here before their ownership was known as Greenfield and existed by 1673. The Londonderry family changed the name to Y Plas ("The Mansion") and greatly enlarged the house. Some of the original structure may have been incorporated in the building we see today. The imposing façade dates from 1853.
In 2008, Y Plas, was acquired by Machynlleth Town Council and it now offers office and conference facilities, and a 250-seat community hall. The town council's chamber and office is also situated in Y Plas.
The venue has hosted a wide variety of events at the Plas, from Battle of the bands to weddings, via environmental and heritage conferences.
On site there are a variety of meeting rooms, from a 6 person meeting room to the Main Hall, capable of seating 250 people, and a variety of support services including printing, photocopying and wifi, all available at reasonable cost.
